SkyDroid - Golf GPS App Reviews

Although Ive only played regionally in Central Minnesota, every course Ive played has been available on this app. I dont know how often maps are updated, if ever, as one hole on my old home course had distances listed all short of the green. The distances were correctly placed on the closeup photo, but the back of green measurement is 15 yards short of the green. Otherwise, my measurements are within a yard or two of guys with lasers. Only issue is I use up my battery if I turn off the auto shut off for four hours, or Im constantly having to re-open the phone.

I had this app on droid and it had a score card. Now on iPhone no score card just yardage. Theres a dozen apps for just yardage. Disappointing for $1.99 app.

This is a really good app to use to find out golf distance. The best thing is that its very simple to use.

A great, SIMPLE, golf GPS. Played an entire 18 hole round and it only used 15% of my battery. Well done.

My friends and I flew to Phoenix for 4 days of golf. I forgot my range finder so decided to try this out. Im as cheap as they get but I decided to throw 2$ at it. Skydroid really does work. I was surprised. Distances were really accurate. What I liked: + easy course search and fast download. + the PAUSE feature really saved my battery. I was worried the constant GPS updates would drain my iPhone 5s battery. However if you simply hit the pause button it stops location services till u need it next. Just unpause and your range will update. + hole overview (map view). First time to these courses and the map overview really helped to see what was over the hill or around the corner. + distances seemed very accurate to front, middle & back of green. Id occasionally compare the app readings to yardage markers and they were spot on. - this app does not fix my golf swing

Sure, its only accurate to around 5-10 yards. If thats not good enough for you, youve already bought a laser range finder. But for the 99% of golfers, this thing is a life saver. Ive NEVER encountered a course that isnt logged (very accurately, I might add) and Im up to 83 courses on my saved list. I only wish it had a score card filing system. Other than that... brilliant.
