SkyDroid - Golf GPS App Reviews

With golf being so hard it’s very nice to have something so simple to help me along the way. Easy to find new course or old saved course. If you have advanced your game where you know (for the most part) how far you hit your irons, than the SkyDroid app is something you should consider. I have given it 5 starts….tells me what I need to know, when I need to know it and it was CHEAP!

I love the simplicity and ease of use of this app. Ive used this app for over a year now. During that time I tried several others with fancier artwork and more "features". Several times I would start a round with the other app and a couple of holes in would switch to this app. I found other apps had too many screens to navigate and drained my iPhone battery quickly. I also do not want to spend much time between shots fiddling with my phone... get in, get the info, get out and get my head in the next shot. I also like being able to check the mapping myself. Thanks for a great app at a great price!

Love this app ! Even a small town course near my father in laws house was on the list. And my yardages matched his Sky Caddie device all day long.

Its as accurate as my range finder. Matches up exactly with other $$$$ GPS golf apps. Save your money and get this one!

Awesome app. Love it so much all it needs Is a scorecard and it would be 5 stars golf app isnt really awesome till you can keep your score on it.

NOT THIS ONE MY I PHONE 5 IS NEW AND DID NOT MAKE IT PAST NUMBER 14 ,ALSO CANT SEE THE APP EVEN ON THE BRIGHTEST SETTING ON MY PHONE.

I couldnt ask for a better, more accurate, easy to use app. Well done. No pop up in-app purchases which is refreshing. Props to the developers for such a well done app.

If you want yardages, and dont like having to scroll through screen after screen of user data, this is the app you want. Its simple perfection!! Fast and ultra easy to use. To the developers: DONT CHANGE IT!!!! Thank you!

Found the distance readings inaccurate and sometimes way off. Emailed developer and was totally ignored. Dont waste your money.

Ive taken this app for granted for the past year as i never used any others. I tried to use others for apple watch compatibility. They bog themselves down with features i dont need which makes them cumbersome. Also noticing skydroid gps yardage seems more accurate. Please make an apple watch version skydroid.

I used to love this app! So much so that I bought it twice when I switched to Apple products. Summers here and Im golfing again and now this app no longer has a score card and its just a GPS! Thats bullcrap!! What a waste of $4. That would be $1.99 twice. I guess as a GPS it probably does just fine but you cant completely change what its function is. That would be like changing Facebook so that you can only post a status update and take away the ability to post pictures and chat!!

This is simple, quick, and accurate. Distance to middle, front and back of greens and distance to major hazards. Includes distance to front of hazard and to clear. Just what I need, without bunch of noise to clutter your screen.

Used it today for the first time. Needless to say its total dog$hit, yardage was way off, app kept crashing and on and on and on. Disappointed I paid $$$ for this.

This is a great app. I thought my Callaway uPro was perfect until it was discontinued but that set the bar for me. Ive been looking for an equivalent GPS device with satellite, not cartoonish, imagery thats ​very ​easy to use and gives me distance to any spot on the course. I didnt want to fool around with scoring​, ​club stats or other clutter. I was not really wanting to use a smartphone app ​unless it was really something special ​because of the risk of damage to an expensive phone. Fast forward to golfing with a friend who suggested SkyDroid. It is incredibly simple and easy to use. The maps are beautiful and I find very little battery drain when I follow the suggestions given. Two important things to rave about are the course mapper and customer support. A course that holds a lot of tournaments was redesigned last year and only the old map was available. So... I mapped ​the new course myself! It was unbelievably easy to do. No more wishing that a pre-mapped course had just one more reading to a particular landmark, with the course mapper you can add it yourself. The course mapper tool allows SkyDroid to crowdsource the list of mapped courses so ANY course you want can be mapped or edited. As for customer support, I was pleasantly surprised that the app support is great. This is where George comes in. Ive dealt with many customer support people over the years but George puts them all to shame. At one point I wondered whether he might be the developer of the app; he knows so much and was so keen to resolve any issue. George patiently answered every question I had, he tried every solution on his iPhone before suggesting it to me, and he always encouraged me to provide feedback to make the app better. Finally, I was planning to use SkyDroid on a golf trip and George was still educating me on how to use the app. I couldnt find a course and didnt have time to map it. Well, George mapped it for me. Thats amazing customer support. In the way of improvements it would be nice if the long press time on the iPhone was shortened just a little, supporting more than one custom measurement on the screen would be nice, and the real-time read-out thats available in FreeCaddie Pro would really be a great addition to SkyDroid. Even without those enhancements its a great app. SkyDroid - get it - and with George in customer support you cant go wrong.

Great App, simple design And functionality .

Im very pleased with this app. Ive been using it for a year or so. Its accurate and easy to use.

Hasnt been updated in OVER 2 and a half YEARS!!! Does not work correctly on iPhone 6+ please fix asap or Ill go elsewhere. (Update) - STILL hasnt been updated! No Apple Watch functionality either. There are so many other better apps out there now. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!

Turns off and have to restart new every hole, what a joke. Yards are off 5-7 yards.

Only gives you distance. Does not give you course layout. You cannot move the pin. U cannot keep score. Very inaccurate for a app that cost money! No refunds, stay away. Tried emailing them for a refund and they kindly declined.

Ive tried a few golf gps apps, and especially if theyre cheap or free, theyre normally not very good. Skydroid has definitely become my favorite. Just plain solid and dependable.
